A Workshop Built Around One Principle
Cogwell opened on Charoen Krung Road in the Bang Rak district of Bangkok with a single, practical aim: to offer watch repair and restoration work done to a standard the owner could trust. The name refers to the cogwheel — that fundamental, interlocking part without which no movement turns — and it reflects the way we think about what we do.
The Charoen Krung corridor has long been Bangkok's antique and crafts quarter. Working here puts us alongside goldsmiths, textile merchants, and restorers who share a similar ethos: that a piece worth keeping is worth treating properly. We did not choose the location by accident.
We attend to three kinds of work: quartz battery replacement with a resistance check, full mechanical movement servicing, and the patient restoration of older timepieces. Each demands a different pace. A quartz cell change is a careful twenty-minute task. A mechanical overhaul requires two to four weeks of disassembly, cleaning, fresh lubrication, reassembly, and regulated timing. A vintage restoration can take two months or more, depending on parts.
We tell every customer the same thing before we begin: we will examine the watch first, write down what we find, and explain clearly what we recommend. No work proceeds without your agreement, and nothing unexpected will be added to the bill.

Prasong Khamwan
Lead Watchmaker
Over two decades attending to mechanical movements. Prasong trained in Chiang Mai and has spent the last fourteen years working on Swiss and Japanese automatics, with a particular interest in vintage Thai-market pieces.
Natcha Wongpan
Restoration Specialist
Natcha handles vintage restoration work, with special attention to case condition and period-correct parts sourcing. She studied horology in Switzerland and returned to Bangkok specifically to work with older Southeast Asian-market watches.
Anan Thongsuk
Workshop Coordinator
Anan manages intake, scheduling, and customer communication. He ensures every watch is logged with a clear condition note on arrival and that customers always know where their piece stands in the process.

Written Intake Assessment
Every watch that enters the workshop is logged with an initial condition note before any work begins. This record is yours to keep.
Manufacturer-Grade Lubricants
We use only the lubricants specified for each movement type. The wrong oil in the wrong place shortens a service life — we do not cut corners here.
Multi-Day Timing Observation
After reassembly, mechanical movements are tested across positions over several days on the timing machine. We do not release a watch until it is running within an acceptable rate.
Water Resistance Verification
Every quartz service includes a basic pressure test after the case-back is resealed. Where a watch was sold with a water resistance rating, we check that the gasket is doing its job.
Photographic Records on Restoration
Vintage restoration jobs are documented photographically at key stages. You receive the full record alongside your watch — a reference for insurance, resale, or simply your own interest.
Secure Storage While in Workshop
All watches in our care are stored in a locked cabinet when not actively being worked on. We carry the appropriate insurance for items in our possession.
Watch Repair on Charoen Krung Road
Charoen Krung Road runs through some of Bangkok's oldest commercial districts. Bang Rak has long attracted goldsmiths, instrument makers, and craftspeople whose work requires both precision and patience. Cogwell fits into that tradition.
We work on quartz and mechanical watches from a wide range of makers. Battery replacement is the most common request, and we treat it as carefully as any other — checking the gasket, resealing the case, and noting the movement condition. Mechanical servicing — cleaning, lubrication, and regulation — is the heart of what we do for watches that are run daily and have not been opened in some years.
Vintage restoration is the most involved work we take on. These pieces often carry provenance — a grandfather's watch, something inherited, a piece found in a Bangkok market that deserves a second life. We approach them with appropriate attention, sourcing parts patiently rather than substituting, and documenting each step. When the watch leaves the workshop, its owner understands exactly what was done and why.
