Why Cogwell

What Sets the Workshop Apart

Honest Assessment First

Before any work begins, we examine the piece and tell you in plain terms what we found and what we recommend. No work proceeds without your agreement.

Written Condition Notes

Every job leaves with a written record of what was done, what was found, and what to watch for. You keep it alongside the watch.

Patina Preserved

On vintage work we do not polish away what took decades to form. Surfaces are cleaned and stabilised, not erased.

Correct Parts, Not Substitutes

We source manufacturer-specification cells and, for vintage pieces, period-appropriate components. When the right part is not immediately available, we wait for it.

Realistic Turnaround Times

We give you a clear time estimate and hold to it. If something changes, we contact you before proceeding further.

Established Address, Bang Rak

The workshop is at 9 Charoen Krung Road — a fixed address with consistent opening hours, not a pop-up or postal-only service.

Frequently Asked

Questions About the Workshop

How do I know if my watch needs a full service or just a new battery?

We check this as a first step. Bring the watch in and we will examine the movement and tell you what is actually needed. A quartz piece running slowly usually needs a new cell. A mechanical watch that is losing more than a minute a day typically benefits from a full service.

Do you work on all watch brands?

We work on a wide range of makes — Swiss, Japanese, and older Thai-market pieces. If a movement is particularly specialised or requires factory tooling we do not hold, we will say so clearly before accepting the job.

How long does a mechanical service take?

A full mechanical service typically takes two to four weeks. This includes time on the timing machine after reassembly. We do not shorten this period — regulation takes as long as it takes.

Will you polish my vintage watch while it is in the workshop?

Not unless you specifically ask for it. On older pieces, the case finish is part of the watch's character. We clean and inspect surfaces, and we will note anything that concerns us — but we leave the patina alone.

What happens if parts for my vintage piece are not available?

We tell you. Parts sourcing for vintage restorations can extend the turnaround to six to ten weeks. We contact our network of parts suppliers across Asia and Europe, and we update you as things progress. You always have the option to collect the watch if you prefer not to wait.

How do I pay, and when?

Payment is due on collection. We accept cash in Thai Baht and major bank transfers. We issue a receipt with a description of the work completed. No payment is taken until you are satisfied with the outcome and ready to take the watch home.
